1. A particularly critical component is the output transformer of a valve amplifier. 2. Such amplifiers are expensive because of the output transformers required. 3. In a push pull amplifier this second harmonic distortion is cancelled in the output transformer . 4. However, the substations are now all equipped with solid state low thermal output transformers . 5. Earlier designs used a separate line output transformer and a well insulated high voltage multiplier unit. 6. Some tube amplifiers have output transformer taps to adapt the amplifier output to typical loudspeaker impedances. 7. High-grade output transformers raise the microphone's signal-to-noise ratio. 8. All these models employed output transformers and beam tetrode or pentode tubes ( for increased efficiency ). 9. Grain-oriented steel is used in large power and distribution transformers and in certain audio output transformers . 10. The miniature output transformer was followed by the Main Gain control, which functioned as a Master Volume.
